Dry Ice Blasting uses a metering unit to feed particles of dry ice into a high-velocity air stream (compressed air), through a hose and nozzle, and onto a surface. Dry ice is the solid frozen state of carbon dioxide (Co2). At a temperature of -78°C (-109.3°F), dry ice is 100% free of water and is therefore 100% non-conductive. Dry ice converts to Co2 vapor on surface impact. The thermal shock from the very cold temperature aids in the removal of the contaminant. It does not abrade or damage the substrate surface and leaves no secondary residue to clean up.
Dry ice blasting is very safe and economical. Co2 is a normal part of the earth's atmosphere and is the gas exhaled when we breathe. Being 100% water-free, there is no danger from live electrical apparatus. In fact, electrical equipment surfaces can be cleaned without disconnecting electricity. There is no blasting media residue to be managed or cleaned up like there is with sand or bead blasting. This makes the process economical since the cleanup of blasting media would typically take longer than the blasting job itself not to forget to mention that used media is considered hazardous waste and is very expensive to dispose of.
Why use Dry Ice Blasting?
Non-Toxic
Environmentally safe. No media contamination, no mud or sheets of ice from large amounts of water, no chemical hazards or grit contamination.
Effective
Cleans in crevices that can't be reached by hand, on machinery where heat is an integral part of the production; heat only improves cleaning performance.
Cost Effective
No need for extensive dismantling, downtime can be eliminated/drastically reduced. Electrical parts and generators can be put back into service without waiting to dry.
Plan ahead
Use for regularly scheduled preventative maintenance. Non-abrasive to surfaces, does not damage substrate, underlying surface, or the material itself.
High quality professional Work that is fast, friendly and convenient.
